Time for this blog to come to an end

I began this blog in October of 2007. I have enjoyed sharing with you the many ways I have discovered to help lift and live with depression, anxiety, and feeling overwhelmed with life. I hope that perhaps some of my posts have helped you in some measure. But like many good things, this blog must now come to an end. Take care...

Winter is coming

Oh, Oh....and that means less sunlight hours which equals the ole seasonal depression, too. I just need to make sure that I get LOTS of sunlight and fresh air. It works wonders. And for indoors I have several of those white light lamps (full spectrum lighting) to give me more natural light in my rooms.

Current Events.....

It is enough to want to make you curl up into a fetal position and suck your thumb !!!…..I am talking about the state of America right now…and…all this insane political stuff that is taking place. I have NEVER in my life seen it as bad as is appears to be right now…so much good, bad, and ugly comments being made with the political candidates. And then the uprising in other countries, lately…..God, please help and save our United States. This turmoil is not good for people who have anxiety problems and depression….hahaha….but I mean it !!!....yes, I know….we must turn to God and have Faith in Him and His Son, Jesus Christ….and I do.

Good Mood Tonic

That is the name of this liquid herbal extract that I take sometimes to help me through a rough period of time. It is made by Herb Pharm, and contains St. John's Wort, Ashwagandha root, Skullcap flowering herb, and Prickly Ash bark. Wonderful combination that quickly calms and relaxes me.

Hate it !!!

I just hate it when out of no where, and for no particular reason, I suddenly feel so discouraged, down and depressed !! The other day this happened and I could not shake it, so I just phoned my friend up and went over to her house and we watched two movies. Movies generally help me, but for some reason, on that day I needed "company" to watch movies with. IT HELPED...

Beware......

Shredding many years of "important" old tax records and other old papers and receipts, etc....plus...going through old, saved greeting cards and letters, CAN cause melancholy feelings. The shredding was like shredding up parts of my life. I just took a deep breath, said a prayer, and pressed forward.

Some days we just gotta do it

When you have several bad days in a row, just take a few hours, or as long as you need to, and do nothing but watch movies (not on TV with those interrupting commercials that just make you crazy).

I like to lay on my bed with my legs elevated and watch movies. I feel that I am totally relaxed then and comfy. Watching movies provides a temporary escape for me so that my mind and emotions can rest.

Ah...the good ole days when life was slower and less involved!

Yes…the good ole days….when we didn’t have all the mental stress and worries like we seem to do today. Today’s life style is a real struggle, for sure. At least it is for me.

Mystery Woman's blog

You can always do as "Mystery Woman" http://mysterywomanslife.blogspot.com/ does (one of my "other" blogs)....mentally change things from the real, to the what if.....just for fun and to get away from the pain of things for awhile....and have a laugh or two.

Change gears

Some days are really hard when I begin to feel the sad, discouraging and overwhelming feelings and thoughts start to creep into my being. I really try not to entertain the thoughts that want to come, because the more I do, the worse they get....and the worse I get. I need to change gears and quickly try and force myself to think of happy things, different things....anything that will divert the onslaught of another depression episode. Even hurriedly changing the activity I am engaged in at the time and doing something totally different, really works.

A unique book

This book, “The Secret”, (by Rhonda Byrne), is a very unique book, indeed. Inside this book, learn what The Secret can do to bring you joy and transform your life.

What is the Secret?...it is the law of attraction! The following paragraphs are taken from the book:

“Everything that’s coming into your life you are attracting into your life. And it’s attracted to you by virtue of the images you’re holding in your mind. It’s what you’re thinking. Whatever is going on in your mind you are attracting to you” (page 4).

“What you are thinking now is creating your future life. You create your life with your thoughts. Because you are always thinking, you are always creating. What you think about the most or focus on the most, is what will appear as your life” (page 16-17).

“The law (of attraction) is simply reflecting and giving back to you exactly what you are focusing on with your thoughts. With this powerful knowledge, you can completely change every circumstance and event in your entire life, by changing the way you think” (page 17).

Retreating to our mental closet

I have a friend who says he goes in his (mental) closet when he has a really bad day with depression. He seeks a quiet place in his home where he can be alone and where he does not have to interact with others for awhile. Here in his “closet”, he can do some reading, or his writings, or just sit and think and analyze and try to work out some solutions to what is bothering him, so that he can come to accept his thoughts and emotions. He says that time seems to be the real cure and then he can go forward again.

Soak up the sun and fresh air

Now as the weather begins slowly to get warmer, take advantage of this and get outdoors and enjoy the fresh air and Mr. Sun’s warmth. It is extremely good therapy.
